What would it be like to fly like an eagle?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly like a bird?  Well here are some ingenious folks that strapped a video camera on some balloons filled with helium and let her go.  Video is a little long but neat none the less.

Slide Show of the 2008 San Francisco Custom Rod and Motorcycle Show

With the 2008 San Francisco Custom Rod & Motorcycle show behind us I wanted to give a wrap up post and present you with a slide show of all the pictures that were taken that day (see below). One thing I liked about this show was the variety. We had things like:

The skies were clear and in the 60's. We took our time walking around the venue that had 9 different building for viewing amazing cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles and people. Without further a due enjoy the show.

Plum Krazy to Rock Sock Hop

The San Francisco Rod, Custom and Motorcycle Show will feature the Band "Plum Krazy" Saturday night during the Sock Hop in the Car Club Pavilion. Two car clubs, The Laf-A-Lots and Golden State Street Rods have teamed up to make the pavilion into a 60's drive-in and garage scene for the Sock Hop.

The Sock Hop is the first time the San Francisco event has featured the band "Plum Krazy" and hosted a 60's style, old - fashioned Sock Hop. Spectators are welcome to join in on the dancing fun and to come to the show dressed to dance the night away in their 1960's attire.
The band "Plum Krazy" has been playing together around the San Francisco Bay Area since 1998. Their music is the classics of Rock and Roll. The music will take you back to whenever you want to go or whatever memories these classics bring to mind.

The band is made up of some very talented musicians. Charles Marquez is on lead guitar and vocals. Charlie has been playing the guitar over 40 years and favors the songs of Eric Clapton and Santana. Edward Stucken plays the gutar and does vocals. Steadie Eddie, as he is known, has been playing guitar for over 30 years and his favorite songs are from Boz Scaggs and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Doing duty on the bass guitar and background vocals is Jeff Gessini and like the other members has over 40 years of playing to his credit. He lists his favorites as Rocco Prestia. Willie Weckes and Peter Cetera. The man who pounds out the beat on drums is Michael Miranda who is the youngest member of the group with 10 years of playing experience. Mike provides a strong steady backbeat for the band. His favorite bands are the Rolling Stones and Beatles.

Rick Perry, the promoter of the San Francisco event says" We are very excited to have the clubs put together the Sock Hop and hope the spectators really enjoy the classic Rock and Roll from 'Plum Krazy'".
The Sock Hop, Car Club display and "Plum Krazy" are part of the Budweiser Pavilions, which consists of the six lower buildings at the Cow Palace. The San Francisco Rod, Custom and Motorcycle Show uses all 9 buildings and over 300, 000 Sq., ft. of the facility to house over 500 entries for this years show.

How To Write More, Worry Less, And Create Great Content - If you ever have writers block, I know I do often, then take a look at this post.  Here is just one of there ideas for writing.

Things not to do while writing

  • Don’t spell check
  • Don’t find proper words in dictionary or thesaurus
  • Don’t readjust sentence structure
  • Don’t look up facts on Wikipedia or search on Google amidst writing
  • Don’t look back at what you have written so far

Predictions for Google's 2008 - 16 unofficial predictions for Google's operating system.

4. Gmail will add another batch of new features, one of the most important being task management, and will finally go out of beta. Gmail will launch a Google Labs-like site with experimental features that could be added by those who are curious to see the next features before they are officially launched.

7. Google Maps will be redesigned and could include more space for user-generated content. We'll start to see user's locations, important events from our area, recommendations from friends. Google Maps will become more personal.

How to Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions and Get Those DIY Projects Done! -

Avoid perfectionist thinking. I know a bunch of people unwilling to start a DIY project because they’re afraid they will make a mistake. So what if you make a mistake! MWT and I have made plenty over the years, and the fact is, we are generally the only ones that notice them...

A lot of people can use 10 Foolproof Tips for Better Sleep -  Here are just a couple of what you will find in this post.

4.  Don't look at the alarm clock at night. Looking at the clock promotes increased anxiety and obsession about time.

9.  Associate your bed and bedroom with sleep and sex only. Don't watch TV, eat, or read in bed. Although these things help some people sleep, they can also give your brain the idea that bed isn't just for sleeping - and this can keep you awake.

Scobleizer writes an interesting post called What I’ve learned in 2007 in it I found item #3 worth mentioning.  Sort of one of those don't judge a book by it's cover.

3. Pay attention to the “unimportant” people in your life. Last year this goofy guy walked into the CES BlogHaus. I introduced him to a few people and did an interview with him. He wasn’t famous. Didn’t have a blog. Hadn’t started a business or done anything that anyone would qualify as “important.” But between January and now he’s become a New York Times best selling author and he’s gotten me onto CNBC and the New York Times. All cause I paid attention to him back when he wasn’t “somebody.”

I think we could all use a lesson on How to Slow Down Now and smell the roses.  Christopher Richards writes about how humans need rests, relaxation, and recreation.

Slow eating
How many of us have heard our mothers tell us not to gobble our food? Children eat like animals until they are civilized. We eat and run. The slow food movement started in Italy as a backlash against fast food, but that is another subject. Current wisdom has it that eating slowly can help you lose weight. Taking your time to chew your food releases the nutrients. It’s easy to overeat, but slowing down can help.

Exercise slow
If you’ve ever tried to lift weights at the gym, you’ll know that doing it very slowly is far more demanding than doing it quickly...

Let's end this weeks Freaky Friday Link Love with some good clean humor.

Happy New Year and Happy 25th Birthday TCP/IP

HAPPY NEW YEAR

May 2008 be your break out year.

Instead of talking about new years resolutions and what we are or are not going to do in 2008.  I thought I would take a minute and wish something a very Happy Birthday.

January 1, 1983 is the official birthday of TCP/IP according to Google's TCP/IP Logo.

TCP

is a "protocol" built on top of IP (every TCP/IP packet has an IP portion). TCP's entire job is ensuring that the connection occurs in an organized matter. To understand TCP's purpose, let's reconsider the package analogy. Say you have to send a script over the "normal" snail mail, and for whatever reason you have to send it in 2 separate packages. This occurs in TCP/IP all the time. So, it's up to the receiver to arrange the individual packages into one whole package. TCP/IP connections have been handled with TCP/IP handshakes since January 1, 1983.

TCP - is responsible for verifying the correct delivery of data from client to server.
IP - is responsible for moving packet of data from node to node.

Layers on top of TCP/IP are:

HTTP: Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (for requesting webpages)
FTP: File Transfer Protocol (for uploading files to websites)
SMTP and POP3: For sending (SMTP) and receiving (POP3) e-mail
IRC: For chatting online

HAPPY 25th BIRTHDAY TCP/IP!!
