New Starbucks Gold Card

Received a new gold card from Starbucks today. This time it has my name and year I became a member. The old card gave me 10% off across the board. This new offers a free drink every 15. No discount off of purchases.
Still get 2 continuous hours of free wi-fi daily. I did use the offer the other day and worked great.
Says free refills on brewed coffee and tea. I wonder if ice coffee is considered brewed?
We will see how this plays out. I was saving forty cents to one dollar with the old card per purchase. Don't see how this new program will benefit me but time will tell.

Google Voice Quick Reference Cheatsheet Speeds Through Voice Menus

Google Voice Quick Reference Cheatsheet Speeds Through Voice Menus: "
Google Voice's great feature set takes your phone and voicemail out of the past, but that doesn't mean you won't still have to navigate the occasional touch-tone menu. Weblog Cool Geex comes to the rescue with a pocket-friendly quick reference guide.

There's not all that much to it beyond that. Their reference guide is handy, it's printable, and it gives you a simple way to quickly navigate Google Voice's calling and voicemail menus. We're sold.

Head to the Cool Geex post for a higher resolution version.

Pandora or Slacker?

longtime Pandora user on the computer. Started to listen to Slacker on my BlackBerry Storm thanks to Viigo.

Pandora really finds songs that suit your fancy. We have a stationed called Air Supply. Every time we play this station I feel like I am back in Jr High at the dances (trying to cop a feel :). Rupert is another feel good station you must try. You can share stations which is fun. I asked a Navy friend for a rock station and she sent me a link to a station called Nickleback. Rock on!

Still getting use to Slacker. I really enjoy the Comedy (explicit) channel. Makes me LMAO! I have not found that gotcha channel like in Pandora. Still work on the ends and outs of Slacker.

Bottom line I say why chose? I say use both of them and enjoy listen to whatever and whenever you want.
The only downer to both is you have to have data coverage. Not satellite but the price is right, FREE!

BlackBerry Storm OS .230 Upgrade

Decided to upgrade to the latest BlackBerry Storm OS. It's a full version instead of a hybrid. Overall I like it but do find something interesting. I will update this post with more details later.

Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

***UPDATE***
Overall I like the .230 full version. I did wipe BlackBerry Storm first before installing .230 full. Here are my findings so far.

Good:
  • Google Sync works after searching the forums for the link to download.
  • Quick Launch works
  • Viigo works
  • Facebook is working for me
  • I like the threaded messages
  • 3G icon is cool.
  • In the past I showed 2 bars in my house now I show 4 bars.
  • Backgammon works
  • Slacker works
  • Pandora works (still testing had some lockups I think is profile related)
  • Evernote works
  • Google Map is working
  • Google Voice works
  • StormSlider is working
  • Ubertwitter works

Bad:
  • Meterberry does not work for me even with all the tricks of the trade.

Indifferent:
  • When I receive an SMS the icon is the BB Messenger icon.
  • When I click on Media it is a folder now and takes me to media related icons instead of the old way.
  • I have a Files icon I did not notice before.
  • I do not have city ID.
  • I do not see a huge difference in the browser.

Bugs:
  • Strange thing when I go to landscape mode the BB dims. I have set my screen to 100% with no auto dim and still landscape dims.
  • SMS messages never fully showed read. They stay BOLD even after opening and reading.
  • I get some random lockups that I think are 3rd party app related.

I think this is a good start and hope it helps.

Beautiful Start

Here I am starting another wonderful weekend the right way. Sitting outside my nearest Starbucks sipping on a venti iced coffee with sugar free caramel and light breve. Eating on a classic coffee cake, sshh just our secret.
Laid in bed long enough to check my emails and read my RSS feeds with viigo on my BlackBerry Storm. Got up dressed and checked the fluids in Sally ('97 Camaro) and then ride Sally ride. Yes the song from Sammy Hagar is where my car got her name.
Only thing on the agenda today is grocery shopping. This is why Starbucks is a beautiful start. Have a good one!

12 Year Anniversary

Sunday was Tammy and I 12 year anniversary. At the last minute we decided to drive over to Trinadad, CA. The above photo's was taken through my BlackBerry Storm while we were walking on the beach. Yes that is Tammy taking a picture of me with her BlackBerry Storm while I took a picture of her with mine.

It was in the 50's while over there and a marine layer was coming in. Far cry from the 112 degrees back home.

Brother Picture While Driving

My brother took this picture one morning on his way to my house.  He held the camera out the window and snapped while moving.  Pretty cool the way it turned out.

Sunday mornings

Give you one guess how I am spending my Sunday morning?

Yep, spending my Sunday with my second love and my obsession. Sitting outside Starbucks on Bonneview in Redding, CA sipping an iced coffee with sugar free carmel and breve. Reading my RSS feeds through Viigo on my BlackBerry Storm.

Now waiting for my brother who was on the road to see me from Corning. Now were talking Camaro, coffee, brother and a BlackBerry Storm. Have a good Sunday.

13 Must Have Blackberry Storm Apps

BlackBerry StormI have switched to a Blackberry Storm with Verizon.  I have used BlackBerry devices for years.  The Blackberry Storm takes a lot of getting use to but is a powerhouse for business and pleasure needs. I have a lot of applications on mine and constantly adding and deleting new ones daily.  I have updated the OS to BBCrackman v5.1-141 a hacked version which has helped tremendously.

Here are the 13 apps I use daily on my Blackberry Storm.

  • Viigo - Instant access to breaking news, entertainment, sports, finance, weather, flight schedules, restaurant reviews, games, local attractions, and more. Make navigating your day effortless with Viigo.

  • Facebook - Hooked on Facebook®? Now you can take Facebook with you on your BlackBerry® smartphone wherever you go and stay logged in as long as you want. Download this free application today and take connecting with your friends to a whole new level.

  • UberTwitter - A full featured twitter client for the BlackBerry Storm

  • Slacker - Slacker is a free personalized radio service featuring over 100 expert-programmed genre stations and the ability to create your own perfect stations.

  • RDM+ - connects your mobile device to remote computer with Windows OS and provides the ability to perform different tasks you usually do on your desktop wirelessly behind firewall and NAT.

  • Qik - Qik enables you to share your moments live with your friends, family and the world—right from your mobile phone!

  • StormYahtzee - StormYahtzee is your classic Yahtzee game with a modern twist. This is a really addicting, yet fun game.

  • Backgammon - a game of luck and skill that has been entertaining millions of people throughout the world for centuries.

  • BerryPopup - easiest way to preview incoming e-mail and SMS messages the moment they arrive. See what is happening without switching away from what you are currently doing.

  • StormSlider - Now you can slide to unlock just like your iPhone / iPod Touch buddies

  • MeterBerry - Everything you need to manage battery and memory on your Blackberry Storm.

  • AppleBerry Theme - one of the most popular BlackBerry themes ever made. This theme provides you with a world-class design experience, making your BlackBerry a true joy to use.

As you can see by these 13 BlackBerry Storm applications there is a diversity of work, fun, and plain interesting applications available.  I recommend all new BlackBerry Storm users bookmark the following websites/forums.

CrackBerry.com is for users and abusers of BlackBerry devices.

BlackBerryOS.com for all things BlackBerry and specializing in all things BlackBerry OS.

I found this post pretty accurate to my life A day in the life of a BlackBerry Storm power user.  In closing do not listen to the ones that say the BlackBerry Storm is a terrible device.  I am here to tell you that if you like technology and being connected then the BlackBerry Storm is for you.
